Hello everyone,

As you all might know the h1-b lottery has been done recently and I am one of the unfortunate candidates who did not get selected in the lottery this year and it was my last chance as my opt visa status is valid for couple of months only followed by lottery month.

Given that it is uncertain that there would be another lotteries conducted as last year, I wanted to know if there are any alternative options to stay in the USA and still work for the company that I am current working for or be eligible to work for any employer in USA.

My research:
1. Converting OPT to CPT again by getting admitted to any university that allows you to work and not take any work sabbatical.
2. L1-B visa: which is not possible in my case.
3. Green card: not possible as it takes ages for the application itself.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you.

Better pay and cost of living in what sense exactly? Given that both of them can be achieved here in the USA. Speaking for myself only as I have seen that for myself.
Other may have a different POV. And that’s what I want to know. Can you Kindly elaborate on this. Thanks ✌️

Basically OP. You're screwed. When your h1 runs out you have options like recapture etc. But on f1 when your stem extension runs out and you don't get picked you're done. Get the ball rolling on your gc app asap. Move to Canada. Come back in a year or so

No. But you can avoid this situation in the future when your potential h1 runs out

Part time MS is what is feasible if you want to stay in USA. Find a school that does a 1 year program. If you find a part time shady one that might reflect badly on both your resume as well as your immigration years later .

In the Valley with evening classes , CMU has a 1 year masters. But they may have closed the application window. SJSU/SCU are other options

Interesting!! Do these universities allow you to work from day 1 itself of the start date? Or is it just that they provide 1 year masters? As I have read a bit on day 1 cpt and how are they provided given the duration of the degree or it can also be major based or course based.
