I feel like I’m a mediocre coder
I’ve been talking to lots of really interesting hot startups and I don’t feel like I enjoy writing software enough to be top tier. I’ve gotten multiple FAANG offers but just can’t seem to hit that next level
I have been told I have excellent communication skills and am a great writer. I’m also an engineer so I’m pretty technical
Is an MBA my best bet in order to break into the product side?

Bow.
I did not do an mba, I joined a startup to get into product, and got a wider experience across functions that helped me easily clear other product manager rounds at bigger companies.
Always try internally, if not try smaller companies they will hire you as a pm without an mba. If nothing works you can do an mba. But the fact is getting an mba doesn’t guarantee a transition into product. So I suggest it is always better to join a smaller company learn product skills in a pm role, do a part time or weekend mba alongside, then you will definitely be a successful pm.
