Hi, my spouse has around 9 years experience working in Tech. She relocated to USA, without any job, 2 years ago, to co-locate with me. She neither has a work visa, nor a work authorization (H4 EAD). Earliest she could get a work authorization would be 2 years from now. We tried H1B lottery multiple times, but with no luck. The only option for her to start working in US is to purse a Master's degree (we are considering MSBA - Master's in business analytics). The only reservation we are having is her age - 34. Whether there would be good colleges accepting applications of candidates of this age. I am hoping to listen to some suggestions/advice which can help make us a decision and get over this reservation. Any feedback from folks who have pursued Master's after they were 30+, will be very valuable. Our objective is to remain in US for as long as possible, so moving to Canada will not work, at least for the next 5 years.
Don’t do masters.
Could you elaborate more? Any other options you can see?
If you’re here on H1-B. Why can’t you get her EAD through marital status? Pay premium processing and get it done within 1 year. $10k uscis fees < $50k tuition fees
Age is not an issue in MS admissions
I know a few people who pursued MS at her age. DM me and I can share more info.

I earned my MS in my 40s — one of the most valuable and rewarding things I’ve ever done. Zero regrets. The 50K investment has paid for itself many times over.
That's a relief to hear! Did you pursue Masters in CS or some other field? Without compromising your anonymity, if you can share any more info about the course details or University that would be very helpful. Thanks!
MS in CS. Please DM if you have questions, I’d be happy to answer.
Discrimination on the basis of age is unlawful for colleges that accept federal money (most of them). There are plenty of 30+ folks in advanced degree programs.
Thanks for this piece of info.
Which state are you in? You could get in-state fees for MSBA.
CA. Yes, will be looking into that.
There are lot of H4 spouses seen in the campus who could be in that age range. Folks join during or after pregnancy too and then there are senior executives too...i think she should be fine...I know SFSU offers this course. I am guessing u r considering that.
I am 31 and doing my MS from US. I would not suggest going for MS. Why is H4 EAD taking so long? Can you elaborate on that. I think H4 EAD is the best option.
I think his employer would not have started the green card process. Even after you apply for an H4 EAD the current wait time is like 7-8 months.
It's just because in my case it was filed late and the process in unexpectedly slower than usual.
No one cares your age.
What happened to h4 ead?
Work authorization is at least 2 years away for us.
Why? What visa are you on?
