It’s really quite simple. If you’re being lowballed, and you’re “smarter than everyone else” in your org, leave. Interview at Facebook, interview at Google, and of course they would LOVE to have you, considering you’re god’s gift to programming. If you don’t do that, stfu. You’re not being paid minimum wage. You make enough to live comfortably in Seattle with a very decent WLB. Satya Nadella has made the calculation that you don’t need 100 legendary engineers to ship a product. You need 10 legendary engineers and 90 OK engineers. If you’re in the 10, you’re being paid competitively. If you’re in the rest, he knows you don’t have a choice. If you are too stupid to see that, then you deserve whatever compensation Microsoft throws your way.
The 90-10 applies to all companies. 90% of the work is done by 10% of the ppl and vice versa
90% of all statistics are made up on the spot
@CDKreator, only 14.7% 📊 of the people know that🤓
Here we go another “10x engineer” telling people that they are 1x engineers.
🍿🍿🍿
Say, the remaining 10%(your title) are all legendary engineers, doesn't your claim fall flat? Told you to smoke up instead of drinking
Hi Amy! 👋🏻
10x engineer here who is paid well but tired of you other 90x losers so I’m getting the fk out. This company is bleeding talent for reasons more than just tc.
We're hiring :)
It will take years to see the damage done by bleeding talent. Stay tuned
Now I know who to blame for ME and Vista. The 90 okay ones. Fkers
Can confirm, am one of the top 10% (read username for proof).
90% of stats are made up on the spot. On a serious note, even if I subscribe to ur stats, there is no evidence that those 10 engineers are being paid competitively. Your post is pointless. And ppl r planning prepping aggressively as we speak so MSFT continues to bleed talent.
You’re right. I don’t know if 90% is the right number. But my point still stands. You really think Microsoft is lowballing every single engineer? That’s insane. Look at your org and you’ll see there’s always a crop that seems better than the rest. msft has the money to pay everybody, they choose to pay only the few they really need to keep
I get what you are saying but I would rephrase ur point. There are engrs hired from the industry by some teams that r paid really well. The complaining here is by engrs who have stayed at the company and have to move out because they aren't earning as well compared to Amazon, FB, goog and many more. Ur point about daily wages is moot bcoz the engrs at MSFT are smart and work hard, at least the ones I work with in Azure. They shud expect comparable salaries to other big name companies. You are totally right that ppl should move if they aren't getting what they deserve, many including me are prepping hard. At the end of the day, we all know its msft's loss. If u loose smart engineers, u don't stay at the top.
