Ranking a few companies in decreasing quality of senior engineer interview experiences with a one-line summary. THE GOOD : Google : Absolute best interview experience by far, recruiter works with you closely as an ally, feedback in 48 hours or less! BlackRock : very good recruiter experience, fast feedback. Uber : Competent but with some levelling errors but good and efficient overall, no time wasted Hopper : Similar to Uber THE AVERAGE : JPMC : Par for the large bank course, nothing bad and nothing great to write about Ebay : ghosted after a tech round, don't expect a bouquet of roses but at an email rejection is the professional minimum Wayfair : Outsourced interview process through Karat, strictly interviewing by numbers by a vendor with no skin in the game. THE UGLY : Compass : Gotcha-type LC hard with robotic interview experience, no candidate introduction at all for a lead-level position Goldman Sachs : Absolutely inefficient recruiting team , month long gaps between interview stages. Interviewer has no clue as to where in the process the candidate is, duplicate tech screens. Doordash : Weird experience, recruiter would call every two weeks for months to chit-chat about weather etc without any concrete interview plan, then ghosted abruptly FaceBook : The absolute worst by far!! wasted tons (I mean months!) of my time with a new excuse every time about missed email, holidays , cosmic interference to finally decline to start the interview process! Disclaimer : Above writeup is a subjective opinion, YMMV
Where is world s best employer Amazon ?
declined to interview with them
That doesn't sound like Google
Possibly got lucky with a good recruiter
It can be. I had a great recruiter.
Very sorry for the terrible experience. Not much of a make up, but if you are open to: 1. Provide me with the recruiter name and if you are okay your name as well, I can provide the feedback 2. If you are still in the market, let me refer you and try for a better experience this time? Disclaimer: I sit on debrief forum and also our interview experience improvement (anyone technically can give feedback for the process improvement)
appreciate this
My meta and google experience is reversed! Amazing experience at Meta and terrible at Google
I'm glad you had a good experience at Google but mine was exact opposite
Any would anyone go to Compass? Their stock looks like shit.
Goldman Sachs was the worst. The interviewer was worse than a robot, they called it a pair programming but it was like talking with a wall and the wall has a punch me with every sentence I complete. Plus, the ego on the guy was the size of a planet
I felt my Compass interview was very challenging, but fair. I don’t recall a trick per se.
