Was my Riot Games application auto rejected?

I spent a good chunk of time writing a cover letter and application to Riot Games but in less than 24 hours I received an automated bot response rejecting my application. I’m just wondering what I can do to improve my application and whether or not my application was even read by HR. I felt like I was a good fit for the role and had most of the requirements checked off in my resume. I realize Riot receives tons of applications but I wish I had the chance to at least interview. :’(

This is besides the point, but unless you are seriously passionate about gaming, you would probably have a better time, higher pay, better learning experiences, and better exit ops, if you went to work for a bay area company. Gaming industry is in a weird time right now, would advise against diving headfirst into it if you can go somewhere else that's more diversified.

Riot underpays. Ask about their salary range if you get an HR interview. Their campus is cool though.

  • What role were you looking at?

    • They probably just took a quick look at your YOE and determined you were an associate and not a mid level engineer

    YOE? Current level?

Reach out to a recruiter on linked in and ask if they have any positions you’d be a fit for.

So for any listing that has a minimum YOE, is that always considered a hard requirement?

Not always, but if you get bumped when you don't meet the minimum then it's pretty easy to tell why.

  • Find an internal employee to refer you.

Also mention you are fluent in Chinese if you can.
