“Companies would ideally want their employees to believe in company's long term vision and grow with company”. -> this is not really what a profitable company wants. “Believe in vision” is corp-speak and sort of kool-aidish. It wants to make profit as much as possible and do the bare minimum to retain you to prevent the cost of ramp up once you leave. That “bare minimum” could change as Airbnb continues to be one of the most popular places to work in right now.
What is your basis? Is google changing their comp structure? Is facebook changing theirs? RSUs over 4 yrs have been the norm at most software companies, despite some exceptions, and it still remains the standard. I sure haven’t heard anything about this changing at Airbnb or any of my peers’ companies. So unless you have more evidence, take your “profit scourging hot company” garbage out of here and stop spreading misinformation.
Glad Airbnb is not taking this myopic view on comp
