I don't see acquiring TikTok as growing the company as a whole. Xbox is in games and is a new vertical but integrates with Windows for gaming for example. If you have an Xbox, you can play some games you bought on Windows too.
TikTok user won't use any other MS product. It's a completely new vertical and unless MS doubles down and really wants to be a player in the social media market, it's going to be like a law office buying a tire shop. That tire shop can be profitable but doesn't grow the law office as a whole.
Just my two cents.
