Blinders, I love politics. I am passionate about law also. But when I had to come to the U.S, I applied for a cybersecurity course of study to increase my chances of getting a student visa. I attended the first day of class and fell in love with technology while still pursuing my passion for law and politics through general course electives. I graduated with an AAS in cybersecurity, back to complete my BSC in computer science by December. And I'm thinking of graduate school - preferably a dual JD/MBA program. The JD will be a focus on technology (IP, etc) and an MBA in technology management or entrepreneurship. I'm going back home in 2022 to run for a seat in my country's national assembly on/before I finish the grad program. I also want to land a job in any of the FAANG’s to boost my resume and probably save up personal cash to finance my election. What do you think I should do? Just an MBA or a JD or a dual program or none at all? Goal: work for 2 more years, start a business, and join politics actively in 2022. I want to serve on the House Committee on Information Technology and Science and Technology.
Actually, the JD-MBA might be good if you want to go for politics. People trust education. Work at a non profit, not at FAANG. It won't help you. Or at best something like Chan Zuckerberg or Gates/ Malala foundation. Good luck on thinking so far ahead so young 🙂
Don't waste too much time in school accumulating debt. You don't need an MBA to start a business. If you aren't going to practice law you don't need a JD. Here is the secret: find a domain, become an expert. From there build your business. You can join politics now if you are charismatic and start small and build yourself up within your party. Start with city council, then state assembly, then national assembly, etc.
