if a company sponsors your green card, does that mean you have to stay at that company for ever?

I have accepted an offer from a company that said they would sponsor the green card, which sounds great...but is there any catch? or any implications ? #greencard

EDIT: How long did the GC process take for you?

You can leave the company after green card in hand BUT you can't have had the intent to leave right after receiving the green card as that is immigration fraud and can put your green card at risk. You received a green card to work for this company after all and USCIS expects that you will do so. I recommend waiting a few months before leaving to another company and you can justify the transition easily if the new company will be paying you more money (obvious) or if they are in a different city (you decided to move there..). Also if your sponsoring company fires you themselves then obviously you can do whatever you want.

These videos won't help you when USCIS officer (who has complete authority in the situation) revokes or denies your green card for immigration fraud due to misrepresenting intent.

    • Haha ok dude.

USCIS don’t even have the authority to revoke Green Cards so just another reason why you have no idea what you’re talking about.

Pre-AC21 there was a risk you’d have issues come naturalization time but those risks no longer exist.

You can literally change employers with a pending I485 so why would intent to work for the original sponsor matter at all? My God follow the logic boyo.

That said you do need to follow AC21 rules so don’t quit your engineering job to become a YouTuber just yet.
