They pay peanuts. Don’t lose your happiness over few thousand dollars. I’d stay back in GA and live a nice life.

Sorry to break it to you but MV is boring as hell too. I’d recommend Austin or Boston when it comes to a balance of going out and start up scene

Housing is even worse in SF but a lot more is happening for young folks. Commutable to Mountain View and if you like it at Atlassian there are opportunities to transfer to the SF office

    1) read the values, pretty much all of the "values interview" questions will be mapping things you have done at work to the behaviors represented. Otherwise usual behavioral interview advice applies - show growth, don't talk badly of others, etc

    2) tech side is mostly LC medium, although the old split between coding and algorithms into two rounds got compressed to one and things are getting more google like as a result

3} architecture and systems design interview is like basically everyone else's

    4) hiring manager interview (or occasionally another delegated manager) is really standard and now separate from the specific values interview

With 3you depending on what you have done and if you have a graduate degree or bachelors could be either P3 or P4. P3 typical base is like 130k, P4 like 150k. Maybe up a bit since those numbers are from like a year ago. 10% bonus I think at those levels? Not sure what equity awards are like for those levels now, but this place used to be relatively cheap on equity. Probably looking at TC around 200k for P4 unless equity awards have gone up.

P5 with 3yoe isn't impossible but you'd need to be both really good and have a record of leadership

P6 (edit, incorrectly wrote P5) is going to be as much about leadership and actual architecture experience as YOE. Occasionally I've seen seen people hired at P6 purely on really strong IC engineering skills but it doesn't seem to be the norm.

A better question is are you happy with our salary offer at P5 and have you already negotiated it up some? There's a fair bit of leeway in upper P5 offers and it definitely overlaps with P6, so if your interest in P5 vs P6 is mainly comp, I doubt that negotiating a P6 even if possible will make much more difference than negotiating cthe P5 salary up

Getting promoted to P6 is also a lot easier than to P7

If you've been working as a team tech lead, and want to move back to that (or get slotted into one immediately although it's rarer) that would be the you probably want to try for a P6 (even at a flat salary with an upper P5) as it makes it more likely
