twitter and now vmware is letting employees permanently move to a LCOL and work from there, (with ~10% paycut).
Any other companies allowing this?
would love to move to LCOL and live yolo ( dont think Apple will ever agree).
TC -200k (not exactly yolo life in bay area )

  • So they could move anywhere and the pay cut would only be 10%? That’d be pretty cool, with only a 10% pay cut you’d be well above market rate pretty much anywhere except SF

    for VMW it's not 10%, it depends on the location, and is way worse than just a flat 10%. they gave us 5 zones with the areas - bay area is baseline; NY, Seattle, LA = 8% decrease, Portland, Austin is 13% decrease, CO, AZ and GA is 18% (!!!), WY, UT, ID is 25%.

      My friend working here in VMware USA told me that’s it’s company wide and they have given the option in india as well. Need someone from VMware in india to confirm
