Ask me anything, I'll try my best to answer whatever I can legally. I'm on the team where the breach happened and heard first hand all the ins and outs of what happened before and during the breach. Confirmed to be an insider Chinese which I've theorized for a while based on training/orientation classes. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-51449778 Also please help me get out with some referrals to some companies. Have one onsite soon. Prefer Austin, Chicago, Seattle Will take any referral tho YOE: 2 TC: 125k Location-Atlanta #leetcode #breach #equifax
Equifax is lazy af. People dont wana do anything, just reap the money and call it a day After 4 pm. No one really cares
Yup insurance covered most of it, lawyers got paid of, chump chase to the people affected. Business revenue are at historical highs again. Slap on the wrist for the company. Love my WLB and WFH flexibility tho
Was anyone from the leadership fired after the leak?
Do you hire Chinese now?
There is one chinese person that was hired recently. The only one I've seen in an office of around 300-500 people
Were you instructed to not comment or share any information on social media or with news outlets? Did Equifax make you sign any non-disclosures?
Not everyone knew, some people clever enough to figure it out were locked into a room and forced to sign papers around lawyers
How did FBI figure out the names of those four hackers?š
No idea actually, there were some USBs left out in parking lots and part of my training said "do not put random USBs you find inside your laptop" They probably backtraced a lot of things the hackers like that. Logs were present and weren't covered up by IP either I believe
Was the CSO with the music degree actually good at her job?
Was it really Chinese state hackers, though? Or was it just the State Department trying to throw dirt on China? Have you seen concrete evidences that this is on Chinaās hand?
Good theory not sure actually. All I know was it was done maliciously and with intent, whoever did it knew the exact systems and DBs to hit and knew the systems well enough to know where exactly a hole was to sneak through. There was literal logs of every american being accessed and retrieved when it was audited
Finally. it is not Russia!
Russia has a huge footprint in Equifax :p
Did you guys realize the magnitude of the hack or tried to brush it under the rug?
The people who knew did. Only the execs and a handful of people knew, and anyone who figured it out were sat in a room full of lawyers forced to sign papers. They started a stealth project to account for the incoming traffic for our systems under a pretense of "some company just got breached, we need X and Y it will be a LOT of traffic coming to us" Lot of insider traders got busted. Including some guy who used his wife's account to make trades.
Thanks. So do you think there is enough competency at equifax to handle the type of data that they have?
