I moved to bay area with my spouse who is on L1 visa. I am on L2 with my EAD in process, which would take anytime from 6 months to 1 year to get approved. Are there any tech companies who can interview me now, sponsor my H1B while my EAD is getting processed?

  • To my knowledge, no OP. You have to atleast start working for that company, only then are companies willing to sponsor you.

Think of it this way, there’s so many people who already have an H-1B or citizens whom they can hire. Why should they interview you, then sponsor your H-1B, hope your application gets picked up while you aren’t even working for them? This is expense for an employee that’s not even working for them yet.

That’s what I think, please correct me if I’m wrong.

One reason why they might sponsor H1B is considering I'm going to get EAD with almost 100% probability. But you are right. They can get someone in 1 month and wouldn't be willing to wait for a year.

    • Yeah. Once you get your EAD, if you want an H-1B so that you won’t be dependent on your spouse, then they’ll most definitely sponsor you.

      Good luck!

It’s rare to find such companies. However, if this is your first job in the US - you can start building your resume by adding side projects, certifications, LinkedIn optimization, resume optimization, etc.
