I got a job offer for a cloud support engineer devops role at AWS. I keep mulling it over but the slightly lower salary and some of the stories online are scaring me off. I am a senior engineer in my current company and want to learn more about AWS and their services to boost my resume. Will this position improve my knowledge of AWS quickly and deeply or will it just be tech support for low level issues? Is overtime common or do the metrics force you into overtime? Do they enforce the non competes (18 months is crazy)? Would I be better off learning about the services in my own time at my current cushy (but behind the curve technology wise) job or does the AWS name hold a lot of value for future jobs? Any feedback would be awesome thanks!
Another post from a few months ago. Might give you an idea for negotiating. Check out this post! "Offer Evaluation - Seattle - AWS Cloud Support Engineer (Compensation)" https://us.teamblind.com/s/202Ehmc1
That is awesome thanks man
Did they ask your any behavior questions on the phone screen? I just past the online assessment and waiting for phone screen for the windows cse role
Yes, they asked a few "give a time when" questions around their LPs. I would say 2/3rds were really easy technical questions and the rest were behavior questions.
What is lps?
It is not help desk job . You will get lot of support tickets from customers . I myself raised lot of tickets. Think of it as system administrator job
Sys Admin of what? What system are they administrating exactly?
