Considering to apply for positions on AWS IoT Core and Greengrass. Does anyone have any feedback about the teams, IoT org and leadership? Thanks. TC 240k
What is your opinion about Go to market strategy /BD folks?
Not really sure what they do in Iot. I think just do analytics around usage but I’ve never worked with them
Where are the roles based? Any iot fols in sf? Or all Seattle?
All in Seattle. Some PMs in the Bay Area who don’t do anything other then send out emails
Sounds like a sweet gig!
At Microsoft IoT it was well known that the Amazon iot team wasn't doing much (but always scared of renewed Bezos zeal to attack the space). They poached some guys off our team too IIRC
Does azure iot have any openings? I’m in aws iot?
Everyone tends to be harsh on their own discipline (business vs technical leadership). As someone who moved to the Tech industry after spending 10+ yrs in other industries, I am blown away by the weak business skills in IOT , and AI/ML space. Almost seems like folks who could not do well as techies, took a couple of online courses or watched a YouTube video on business concepts and took the leadership roles 😜 I exaggerate but I feel that with exception of msft, there is a serious lack of business skills in both AWS, GCP (hopeless so far), and a few other teams, when I pitch their functional skills against other industries where business folks had to really sharpen their skills to keep the business afloat (lesser technical advantage need more business Savviness)
Folks on this page, I have a question. Question: What’s the best way to improve my technical credentials: cloud/IOT certifications, MS in analytics, or something else? Context: I want to improve my technical credentials for IOT/AI driven predictive analytics and digitally transforming industrial sector. Have been on the business side of IOT/ML, and I think the business guys can serve technical counterparts by understanding the Tech side better. Hence the motivation to learn more tech.
Why do you specifically ask about IoT Solutions?
Really? Is it that bad?
Yes. If Shyam were an L4, he would’ve been fired long ago for ethical violations and incompetence, but he’s an L8, so it’s okay.
It's pretty shit
Can you please be more specific?
Just what I've heard and techsurvey results when I was looking to move internally were bad. Don't know much else.
