Cleared AWS phone screen & on-site. Time to discuss the offer and their offer is basically less than what I am on OR at the very best as the recruiter hinted will match. They are telling me this now even after they had taken all my compensation details before any interview. Am inclined to decline the offer. Did you have a similar experience?
@Highway...one thing you can try from next time onwards is quote a salary you will be ok with....which may be some x% above what you currently make that will make you happy on the comp front. If it is beyond what they are willing to offer, the recruiter will say that they wont be able to afford you. That way you will not end up going through the process.
Yikes. Not cool. I’d decline.
I don’t know if she’s low balling me or what. I have heard that L6 is a wide band. Wondering how much room she has got 🤔
Do they not have a legal obligation of not asking your current comp ? Is it not against the law ? Or did you give your comp numbers willingly. Are you inclined to decline the offer ? Of course you are inclined to decline anything, that's up to you, however, is the work that you'll be doing much more better and exciting than your current position, then you should be inclined to take up the offer. There is a world beyond TC so GTFO. : )
Thanks ;) I was willing to discuss my current comp because I have wasted time before on this nonsense so am kinda ok with that. The whole point of discussing it before any interviews was to establish a comp range to avoid wasting time and end up in a situation that I am currently in. I am in it only for comp....go figure!
Maybe you should've inflated your current comp and see if they match that ; )
