What would you pick, I have an offer for AWS L7 PM Tech and a promotion as a director at IBM. The big pro for aws is salary which I don't think IBM will be able to match. On the downside the work at AWS is something that I have already done and in IBM it is in a new area (of course plus politics) and title of being an executive.
L7 leave for VP roles. L6 leave for Director roles.
If you're gonna be an exec it might be better to choose the money making machine rather than the struggling turnaround attempt. Constant RAs, never hitting revenue targets, constant re-orgs, fighting over what counts as revenue recognition. Maybe your org is more stable and successful than mine was but this drove my OM directors crazy. Literally 3 band-Ds quit in 2 yrs lol. It feels really good to have left for a fast growing company. There is so much opportunity for myself and all of my colleagues instead of fighting to just survive every quarter. Congrats on the two great options though!
Thank you for the good inputs
Amazon. You might be RAed at IBM...amazon name is good enough for you to easily lateral to another sexy technology and company for a VP in a few years where you can have an even bigger impact and impactful technology.....IBM pay really sucks too...don’t regret it, just leave, you’ll be fine...
I don't think D-level folks get RAd much? They just need to deal with constantly laying off their team. But agree with the rest.
Thanks for good inputs. Would your answer change if I say L7 role is IC
So OP - did you join AWS or IBM ? Pls share an update

Is this offered TC at Aws? If yes, what’s the breakdown? Aws L7 sounds great.
