Hi I recently started at AWS. 0% of my RSUs have vested as of now. After my first year 5% of my RSUs have vested and I now have access to these shares. In an imaginary scenario, lets assume that AMZN has a 2-1 split. Does my total RSU count (including vested and non-vested) benefit with the 2-1 split or is it only the vested shares? #tech #aws #rsu
RSU represent actual shares of the stock so if you have 100 invested RSUs and there’s a 2-1 split you would end up with 200 unvested shares. They also protect you in case of the shares losing value. If your strike is the current value (~$3500) but it drops to $1,750, Amazon will give you double the shares at the time of vesting to cover the difference. If the stock appreciates you keep the guaranteed number of shares
Thanks so much
This is better than the HR Bot
Lol yea bots aren’t going to be able to answer with this level of depth
Don’t have much expectations on Amazon, I still remember one year the stock price increased a lot, and the company reduced our tc during performance review as they thought we benefited too much from stock price surge
I’ve never heard of them reducing someone’s TC but I know that they won’t give an additional increase to base or shares
So your TC was revised lower after the large increase in stock price to be closer to your original compensation?
