I have made it to the third round of interviews at AWS for an L6 role as a Senior Solutions Architect. I would like to know what type of questions I should prepare for outside of the LPs. Also, how many more rounds of interviews are there? What should I expect during those? #aws #awssolutionsarchitect
There will be at least one interview focusing on your tech depth with LP mixed in. Don’t think it completely behavioral in the loop.
Thank you! My first interview was very technical. He mentioned that it would be more technical going forward so I created a study guide and started taking free training on LinkedIn Learning and AWS to prepare. Do you think that would suffice?
I don’t think that’s the right direction. They would ask your past projects and dive into the technical detail to test what you know. It’s better to solidify the knowledge around what you’ve worked on.
5 hour long interviews, 1 hour long presentation, 1 lunch in the middle. My interviews were Technical with an L7, HM, Skip Manager, Teammate, Bar Raiser, Casual Lunch with another Solution Architect.
Thanks!
LPs will be the majority of the interviews. It will likely be all Solutions Architects (teammates and management) interviewing you. The bar raiser should be easy to pick out; All of my interviewers were SAs or SA managers, and one guy from ProServe (the bar raiser). In mine I had "homework": debug an issue with a stack and then document the fixes (written up as you would for a customer). I was given the code a week or two prior, some AWS credits to play with, and one interview went over my proposed solution. That was the technical part of my interview. If you haven't got an assignment like that then don't worry (they won't spring one on you in the interview).
Thank you! This is very helpful. I have started refreshing myself on security architecture just in case 😀.
How was interview op?
Thank you for asking. I feel they’ve gone well, but I have been waiting to hear back from the recruiter. Today would mark a week since the last interview. I will update the thread once I receive word.
Best of luck op
Hey did you hear back on your interview result ? Would you be willing to share details of your interview like how many rounds, how much technical depth and was there any presentation you had to make ?
Hello, the recruiter told me that he’s waiting to hear back about scheduling my next round. So far I’ve done the initial call with the recruiter and two interviews with other SAs. There was a mixture of LP related questions like “Tell me a time when you innovated and simplified something something and what the result was.” The first SA interview was more focused on technical acumen, with about 50% of his questions asking how a technology was used, how it different from another technology, and OSI model questions. My second SA interview was virtually all LP outside of two tech questions towards the end. The first SA was not much of a people person and came off a bit rude, while the second SA was very personable and gave me an opportunity to ask him questions. I’ll update after my next round. So far there has been no presentation.
Thanks!!!
Any system design questions in the loop ? I don't think you get access to a whiteboard, correct ?
I was just sent my interview presentation template to present on whatever area I have experience with. I should be receiving an email with more details tomorrow or Monday according to the recruiter.
Yeah I got my presentation details too, wanna DM and chat ?
Hi, how did the presentation go?? Can you share the details??
The presentation and loop will be taking place the week of the 25th
Good luck man .. please post some feedback
Thanks! Will do
I assume your third round is the full loop? If it is, it’s literally all LP’s. You will get some general questions about technology like “tell me the most technical challenging solution you worked on” where you can dive deep and probably one about something you learned “tech” outside of your job.
Thanks for that insight!
