Google vs Citadel vs Facebook

Deciding between the 3 offers below for summer internship. The most important criteria for me is getting a FT offer in NY post internship. Background: attend a top 1/2 CS school and already have Apple on resume.

Google and Citadel have given me NY placement/teams and so I’m leaning towards those two. However I’m worried about the FT conversion process at Google not being a guarantee (especially FT location), compared to Citadels straightforward performance based conversion process. Furthermore, the team at Google is networking/infra, and I think the work on a market-facing Citadel team could be a lot cooler/more interesting. On the flip side, I'm worried that going down a FT path at Citadel might close off paths back into the product world in tech. Overall, I don't care a lot about the money or the clout so FT location in NY is my biggest decider, but I don't want to make a "wrong" decision here. Any thoughts?

    Get fb out of the picture first!

    There have been a lot of movement from Citadel to Google but not so much vice-versa.

    I will suggest Google if its for SWE role for both. You can always change teams inside Google to what you like.

    My 2 cents.

    Come to Citadel and get a really high return offer ~ 250K TC. Use that as a leverage while doing full time interviews with FANG. Join FANG full time with a head start and 99% percentile L3 TC.

      Any reason why they wouldn’t want to stay at Citadel? Note that even higher end new grad offers at Google aren’t that amazing, they’re closer to average L4 offers. (Say $250k+ TC first year, $200k+ recurring.)

    Citadel has the highest chance of getting a NYC return offer. FB will be close to 0%.

      Good to hear, I think that knocks FB out for me. I’ve had friends gun for NY FB placement and it looks like it gets harder every year...

    Go to any of the internships, you can always apply for a FTE role in nyc outside of your internships. I knew someone who started out citadel, quit within two years and is much happier. If NYC doesn’t work out for intern conversion, PM me for Spotify NYC. I went down the finance path briefly after being in tech and hated it.

    Google is opening a large new NY office. Also the general rule is only NY interns get NY return offers, not that no one does. But it would be more of a gamble.

      Tough choice. Personally I’d lean away from Google unless you know you’re joining a strong team. Perhaps ask some folks at your school who have worked at Citadel. IMO if you want to stay in NY you should go to Citadel. You could always move here later.
