People here often say that Blind is toxic.

True

There are many posts that don’t contain any valuable info.
However there are also golden posts about Career/Immigration/etc. Sure before you find some of these real “diamonds” you will need to dig some shit. Maybe for significant amount of time. And I don’t mean only searching for the answers, but you will need to hone your skills as well (LC/System design/negotiations/etc)

I was able to do it, worked hard during last year, as a result got a few good offers and increased my TC from X to 2.8X (after tax, I will quit Microsoft this month, it is well known company, true TC, not paper money), got level bump as well.

      @bezoz999 - Suppose he was hired Feb 2017 with a target compensation of $550K. AMZN was $835 / share. At $1900 / share, compensation would be around $856k now. Assuming no more grants.

      He wasn't an L7 at Amazon prior to two years ago ($330k), so I find this very believable.

Feel sorry for all these whiners wanting a promo or raise handout ... how about focus on the company .. not yourselves.

      Many people think they deserve promo or more money based on just doing what's expected of less. Some think if they come early and leave late that somehow this qualifies as a big deal. Think about what it is that you really do and honestly you will come to realize that you are grossly overpaid for what you do.

  • I nearly 2.8 Xed my TC. I had 2 YOE at that time. ( some airbnb paper money involved). 120k -> 320K. Base went from 110k to 175K.

    • I told my expectations when recruiter asked during offer stage but they did not meet it (asked for 350k). And I never told my previous salary during any interviews.

    I don't know if Blind helped me or made me feel bad about myself when I saw all these TCs throws around. But it sure motivated to get up and start studying.
    The problem here is you don't know what's troll and what's true.
    Like this one. How are you suddenly worth thrice as much because you studied for a year on leet code?

      the main thing is going from low payed company to high paid one

      microsoft pays shit

      facebook and google pays well, but there are other companies that pays even better uber, lyft, netflix

      so if you go from MS to one of these 3 - this would make a trick

      sure leetcode might not be enough and you might need to be a bit lucky to bump a level (system design, side projects, bring some value to the table)

    Also blind is not for everyone. We have been conditioned not to talk about salaries and derive a sense of status when its more than others around. That is why so many people feel bad instead of appreciating the information leverage. Companies will pay you as less as they can and the only way employees get power is through information. And blind just provides that empowering platform. Hoping to leave SAP soon. Blind made me confident that I can command atleast 70% more than what I am getting now even before starting convo with recruiter. And I am talking to a bunch.
