What makes one IPOs more successful than others?

For example Twilio grew 400% since its IPO. At the same time Dropbox is barely hanging there in comparison. Now there is Lyft, Uber, etc. coming our way soon. How does one see a confidence in given company to make money? Is it all just a luck to some extent?

It's partly a question of bull vs bear market timing.

More importantly, it's a question of the company's perceived future viability. Dropbox isn't innovating, and they'll be toast if MS, Google and Apple ever build a shared cloud

All luck. Twilio ipoed and dropped before going on a bull run. When I interviewed with them about a year ago, I thought they were going to fade into existence.

  • Revenue and profitability growth, market changes, user base , anticipated revenue growth and so many other factors determine the company's market cap which dictates the stock price growth
