Goog Employees Arrested
So I currently have an offer from Microsoft for a hardware internship with Hololens and the compensation is definitely on par with G/FB internships. My recruiter at Apple promised their team would finish up interviews and get a decision to me by today, but they canceled and postponed for another week because of some important last minute project 🥴. Thing is, I could wait to hear their offer but TBH, I would rather take Microsoft (needs decision by Christmas) because the project/product is definitely cooler and I'm nervous about getting too close to the deadline. The only thing making me hesitate is Apple has a better reputation in hardware, which could potentially lead to more opportunities down the road. However, this probably means it would be easier going from Microsoft to Apple just by the number of hardware openings. Thoughts? Would I be crazy to just accept and stop stressing?
If you like the offer and the team in Microsoft, just go with that. Don’t just go by the fact that Apple is better in hardware; it will totally depend on your team. I am not a hardware guy but I know some teams in Hololens (more in computer vision domain) and they are awesome.
Just ask what the hard deadline for Microsoft is. Tell apple the hard deadline. If it doesn’t happen close to that date, then accept the offer. Going from Microsoft to Apple is not easy. Apple has a rigorous interview process for most groups I have seen. Microsoft I haven’t interview, so not sure how they compare.
Microsoft is really not bad now-a-days. An unofficial FAANG if you ask me.
If apple comes back before the deadline: decide which one you want more and take it. If apple doesn't come back before the deadline, take Microsoft: politely tell Apple that you ran into the deadline on the offer from Microsoft but would be interested in working at Apple in the future, then don't second guess yourself and enjoy your internship at Microsoft.
Just make sure the Apple team is aware of the deadline so they can appropriately rush things.
They were already aware before postponing, which is why I don't have THAT high of hopes about getting it. Possibly second pick
It’s okay to take the Microsoft offer and switch to Apple if their offer is much better. Sure it might be a little annoying, but they have process for this, and ~every person has a right to seek opportunity for themself~
Or just be honest that you have another thing lined up, and you’d be willing to forego that offer if MSFT could “match them” at X
MSFT doesn’t negotiate when it comes to internships.
If MSFT is what you want, then take that offer. If you take MSFT and then renege later, MSFT will report you to your school,
They’ll report to the fucking school? Even if so- what punishment do you get for switching to a better job (not that Apple is better necessarily)?
Yeah, it’s something to do with agreements that they have with schools that they recruit for. And it depends on the school on what actions they take.
Msft > Apple for swe and for everything in fact.. however they pay shit at lower levels
Lmao that’s funny. Apple >= MSFT for SWE. Not sure about hardware tho.
Lol - what are you smoking? Apple is not a Tier 1 software company. This is known! Shame 🛎🛎🛎 Shame 🔔🔔🔔
