I have a pending offer from Millenium Management (hedge fund in NYC) TC offered: Around 225 K for a cloud data engineering role (not sure of the exact split of base and bonus ;waiting on details) Heres the dilema:I have onsites with google ,Juul and affirm. Google isnt an engineering role(analytics) and the recruiter said max TC will be 180k. Affirm is a data engineer role and the TC should be around 200k. Juul also said they can do 200k TC if the onsite goes well Given Juuls troubles I should probably stay away. Im very apprehensive about the work culture at Millenium -however the interview seemed fine.A big red flag is they referred to various interviewers as “head of IT”, “director of IT” etc. So basically take a risk and wait for Google or Affirm?I feel 20-30k isnt a big deal at G given the 401k match. However my career path will change a bit . Really confused and could use some help. Also on H1(but Im willing to take the risk for the right opportunity).Ideally im looking for a stable role to grow over the next 4-5 years. MM and JUUL is in NYC G and Affirm is in SF. TC 170k
Google can take a while, best not to wait on them. The great thing with Google is that once you’re in their pipeline and you’re not eliminated because you’re a total knob, then you can always bank it for later (you will have to interview again if your offer expires, which I hear is 6-12 months). What I don’t know is which city you’d rather be in now, NYC or SF. Being young in NYC can be a special experience (I did it), but I also stayed in SF/SV a bit in my 20s and there was nothing special about that. In your 20s, NYC basically trumps all other places to be.
Thanks-I’m terrified of dating in SF.Is it that bad ?
Where did you join? is Millenium any good in 2023?
Try for Google engineer.. In the meantime accept MM offer. Forget about Affirm and JUUL.
Any particular reasoning why you wouldn’t consider Affirm?
Weak engineers. Weak and arrogant. Dangerous combination.
