I recently received a really good offer from a non-FANG for the same level role. I was just short of one level up.

The new TC including sign-on and bonus would be around $320k which would drop to $290k in my second year. Amazon are looking to counter but staying within band will likely limit it to $270k or $280k at best.

I don't find Amazon to be as terrible as Blind make them out to be and my WLB isn't that bad either. The team I'm on has lots of future potential and hiring aggressively. Path to promotion is a little fuzzy but can always jump ship later this year.

New TC: $320k ($290k without sign-on and $271500 without bonus)
Counter TC: $280k

Joining a new team/company with new manager and no reputation/rapport is a risk. It’s part of life, but it’s still some uncertainty. Usually people want to be rewarded $$$ for taking that risk. You are getting such a small increase that if you feel comfortable/happy in current job, I would stay. If you hate the current job, the risk seems like an obvious one to take!

    Two options-
    1. Take counter offer and keep interviewing.
    2. use your counter offer to push your new offer from non-FAANG up to 350k.

Dude. I just got an L5 verbal offer of $325K. You’d make more if you left and came back.

    • @amazonnnn my friend was able to negotiate from 250k to 330k just by saying he was still interviewing with other companies (I.e he didn’t even have any other offers). Might be different for FTE vs new employees though
