Got my first job out of B.S+M.S in CS as CTO at an early stage startup. The rest of the team is non technical, CEO, CMO and CFO. When I got the job in February, I had stated my salary expectation as $100k, which they didn't reject. I then understood my contract as $60k, which I was fine with given the nature of fledgling startups. I then move to a new apartment based on this salary. Apparently, there was a misunderstanding in the contract of biweekly, and they understood it as $30k a year. They pay themselves less, and all live together in a house of 10 people in SF. While I am dedicated to the dream of the startup, vibe with the team, and genuinely want to see the startup succeed, I am now almost ready to launch, but I don't want to screw up the beginning of my career. The product itself is E-commerce, and could fill a resume in terms of the CTO responsibilities, but isn't technically innovative.
I'm not entirely sure what my question exactly is, but I'm very confused as to what to do here. Any perspective would be greatly appreciated.#startup
Update: I quit, and am doing freelance gigs. The position was remote, I had moved to just outside Chicago.
