Im preparing my taxes and I realized that last year when I switched jobs it looks like there was some paperwork issue that caused me to be in previous employer (a contracting company) W4/payroll for more than a week (like about 12 days) while I started with my new emloyer (at&t). So I guess I was a full time employee for two places. I know in the employment contract there tends to be some language that prohibits from working at two places, but is it something specific to w4 or I9 payroll? Just wondering from lot of folks from tech companies here, did you ever stay at two places and use your PTO at your old job while start another job? Has anyone ever faced this? Could this be an issue with my taxes? Could either of the companies get in trouble with me? Or throw trouble at me? Now more than ever, think this could affect my visa (h1b)? #att #faang
It usually matters only if you later are interested in applying for employment based GC and US citizenship. Otherwise you should be good
I see. Im planning on not staying in usa past years anyways but until then do you think I'll be in legal jeapordy in my company? or future company?
Yes if both business are same fields then one may sue you ( extreme case)
So long! H1b
Most likely no one will ever find out.
Dont talk about it and i dont see an employer finding out
Did you actually overlap or was it just a mistake? If you did overlap, did you simultaneously receive wages from both?
Overlap with wages from both.
How long was the overlap?
