1.5 YOE, TC 85, AI/ML engineer Looking for a move. Had interviews at the following: Amazon(Phone) Google(Onsite) Adobe(Onsite) Then have had limited talks with: Microsoft Netflix Twitter Uber Lyft Is there something i'm missing? How do i actually land the interviews that i want? Ive sent out 100's of blind resumes, went to happy hours etc. Also does LC really solve all your problems?
LC really does solve all your problems. Well, also focus on system design and architectural problems. But yeah, mostly LC.
With AI/ML you have to show uniqueness, knowledge depth, and be good at leetcode.
I was in your shoes at one point and my experience was that youâd have to break into one of the big, well respected tech cos for your career / TC to really accelerate. The first one you go to *will* low ball you (unless you have competing offers) and you will accept it in the end even though itâs probably not even going to be a raise considering CoL, taxes etc. In terms of getting interviews, several big companies like Dbx (was hot shit in 2012), Foursquare, Palantir, Msft etc. didnât even want to give me a phone screen. The day I joined amazon and updated my LinkedIn was the day I started getting unsolicited recruiter contacts and more interview opportunities than Iâd care to take up.
So how do I crack that first company?
Leetcode and hope you nail one of the interviews that you do get. A lot of it is just plain luck but find referrals, order your interviews correctly so you can practice the 4hr onsite loop with low stakes at some company you donât particularly care about, practice on pramp etc
You got rejected in adobe and google?
Following as I've never been able to get past the phone screen stage at any company.
