I recently landed offers from Google and Meta.
Both offers are for L4. Meta's TC is just under 300k and Google is a little over 300k with Google giving ~10k more. Meta is also giving a 45k s/o bonus.
I have a mostly data engineering background. Google team would be for Android app dev.
I can probably go back to Meta to negotiate a higher final number but Google's is likely final.
I was wondering which company would be best to join, prioritizing skill/career growth and WLB? Also, how much does switching the engineering focus from data engineering to Android app dev matter for career progression?
TC: 176k

Also, Meta refreshers are much higher than Google. And youโll get them at the end of your first year, whereas at google you wonโt get them until your second year.
It would be helpful to get an idea of how much WLB I'd be giving up by choosing one or the other.
That being said, there are probably more good WLB teams at Google than Meta. But the tradeoff is itโs on average much faster to go from 4->5 here, and youโll make more $ over time when you consider refreshers and promo.
