Adding links to resume

I want to add links to my LinkedIn, GitHub, Stack overflow profile, the link of certificate and the link for the certification program, etc. But the links are too lengthy. I can't add them as hyperlink because I want the links to be visible to people reading the hard copy. If I use a URL shortener, the links might look unprofessional. I think almost all the recruiters and interviewers would use a soft copy of the resume. So would it be a good idea if I end up using hyperlinks throughout? How do you prefer it in your resume?

Can you just use your handle ? For example: Github - @handle Stackoverflow - @handle Or shorten where can: LinkedIn.com/xyz

That's a good idea. I'll use handle wherever possible and use hyperlinks for too lengthy ones like that of certificate and certification program.

I insert links. Handle looks neat, but it adds an extra step of them searching you, and hopefully the search result will only give things you wanted them to find. Links look uglier, but most people read your resume from their screens anyways.

"I insert links." Did you mean hyperlinks?

Yep

Bit.ly?

Doesn't look professional

Lol, since when is a url shortener not ‘professional’? I’ve been a hiring manager for years and not once have I ever said “oh no, he shortened the link! Rejected!’

I used straight Bitly for a while and got good traffic from my resume. The analytics are nice. I've since used a short version of my professional domain for a custom shortener with Bitly. I've gotten explicitly good feedback about it 🤷‍♂️

Who prints resumes anyway?

Have you not been to an interview? The interviewer usually havs a print out of the resume and discuss previous achievements with the candidate.
