Graduated in 2020 and did a long internship and have now been working full time for just under a year. I’m currently at a pretty decent startup but it’s not well known or trendy.

I want to break into higher tier tech, and I feel like my leetcode is there but It’s hard for me to get interviews and want to ask for any suggestions.

By higher tier I don’t just mean FAANG, would be interested in anywhere like DoorDash, Lyft, Uber etc and also interested in more ‘legit’ startups like AirTable. I haven’t been able to even get a response from any of these companies… not exactly sure where to go from here.

Any tips?

It’s pretty difficult to do with 1 YOE unless you went to a top school or have some other hook

I was just like you with ~1 YOE and did 400+ LC and only got an interview from Amazon and Cloudflare

I was super reluctant about joining Amazon, but now I’m getting interviews at all of the places you mentioned 🤷‍♂️

So yeah you either need to switch to a FAANG company then bounce, or wait until you’re SDE2 level and then try and get interviews

That's exactly what I was about to suggest, but this anecdotal evidence explains it very well.

      1) LC helped to get a job at a well known company

      2) Once you accrue some experience in one of these companies, the gates are open for better opportunities.

Dang 35-40 hours would be a MAJOR improvement for me. I’ve had a few amazon recruiters reach out tho they have all afk’d before it got anywhere. Maybe I will push harder in that case.

    1. Probably will get flamed for this but I recently did a resume review with a recruiter through levels.fyi. Was actually very insightful, the guy had recruited for both G and FB. In my case he said my resume was already pretty good, but he gave me tips on how to catch the eye of a recruiter. Would imagine it being very helpful for someone whose resume isn’t even getting considered.

    2. Blind referrals
