Advice on getting more interviews

Hey guys, I have been trying to interview in FAANG and other good companies this year but it has been difficult. Applied in 12 companies (FB, Goog, Amzn, Apple, Netflix, Microsoft, Uber, LinkedIn, Lyft, Airbnb, Dropbox and Palo Alto Networks). Got Interview calls only from 3, FB, Goog and Amzn. From rest, either no response or straight reject. (My Telecom background doesn't help I guess). I have been grinding on Leetcode for last few months. For Google I went till onsite but HC rejected. Gave Amazon onsite interview last week Thursday but I am doubtful as I ran out of different projects to discuss and had to recycle same projects for couple of LP questions. Today I gave FB phone interview and they asked one LC hard question which I solved but after that there was no time left so I am guessing I won't make it through (They generally ask 2 coding questions). Wondering what I should do now. If I get rejected I will have to wait till next year and apply again in above 3 which sounds fine but as my experience increases I am seeing tougher interview questions. This year I don't know if I can get more interview calls from the 12 that I had targeted. Also I had been postponing office work for interview prep, which I will have to complete now. Wanted advice on whether I should keep trying (if so then how) or wait till next year. TC:150K (only Base no stocks) YOE: 8 in US + 2 in India

This is a small list of companies. Apply at more companies. There are companies in between Nokia and those that you listed. If you don't get any offers out of 5 onsites you're doing something wrong. Have other people look over your resume. Take mock behavior and coding interviews and have friends give you feedback. Companies like tableau, mongodb, snapchat might be easier to get into.

That is fair advice, will try to get some mock interviews and apply at more places. Got only 3 interview calls out of which for 2, I went till onsites. Will look into tableau, mongodb and snapchat.

Those are just examples. Depending on where you live you might want to consider different companies.

LC hard in a phone interview? WTF. Meanwhile, try to get referrals for the other big companies. I would continue trying this year as you're in the "zone".

Also, how many months of preparation did it take? LC count and splits?

Nokia dumbcoder OP Sep 9, 2019

Thanks will try continuing this year. Number of months - 5 (started in April). LC count - around 100 solved 12 hard/42 medium/46 Easy . For many LC questions I looked into the solution without solving it , maybe that is something I shouldn't do. Also spent time learning C++ and Python for interview as I only use C in my day job.
