I have upcoming calls with recruiters from Facebook and Google for Network Deployment Engineer roles, any insight into questions I may be asked, what to say and what not to say? I want to ace these so any help would be appreciated.

  • It's usually why you want to switch, what's your current role/what do you do currently, maybe location preferences, and then them trying to sell you the company a bit and what next steps would be.

A recruiter call is never anything to sweat. They just make sure you aren't insane, at least claim to have the skills for the job, and that you're interested after getting more details on it. Also they'll probably mention a ballpark salary range to see if you'd even consider an offer.

They may ask about other interviews. Be upfront and let them know you are working with other recruiters. That will help you down the line when negotiating. They may ask you about your desired range or important parts of comp. NEVER answer. Don't even hint. Say things like I'd rather have that conversation when the time comes, or I'm sure Google/Meta/X can compensate me competitively when the time comes. Don't box yourself in. Do NOT talk about your current level unless you want to move laterally. If you have to, punch up.

Honestly, I am at the moment. I really don't want to mess it up.
