My old boss recently bought a consulting company with a focus on training and labs and asked me to be on their board of advisors. My guess is this is not allowed while working at microsoft as they also are a partner. Thoughts ?

Goog Employees Arrested
I would look at the employee handbook, or ask HR. You don’t have to give any details about the company. Something as simple as “ due to my experience and background I have been asked to serve on the advisory board of a consulting company. Does that violate MS policy and, if so, can I get a copy of the policy so I can be better aware?”
Perfect!
