Laid off due to Oracle reorg in March. Got offer from Affirm SF and AWS Seattle. Which one to choose?
Which org in AWS? They are quite different.
QuickSight
Hmm dont know much about quicksight. The service is relatively new so there could still be a lot of development. In any case switching teams is easy these days within Amazon, and I think you will get more interesting technical problems at AWS.
How is Affirm
TC is good, although part of it is paper money. Enjoyed the interview, love the culture, like CEO Max.
AFAIK, QuickSight is growing fast. But way to go to catch up with Tableau and PowerBI
Nowhere near Tableau. I just pray the team won’t get laid off within 2 months like what happened to me at Oracle :(
You know layoff is not really an Amazon thing. If the org is dead, people are usually given some grace period to find other internal opportunities. Some SDMs may also bring all the directs to new teams with them
AWS if you are on H1
Why ? Amazon good for H1bs?
Tc or gtfo
QS for sure, you will learn a lot
Affirm is a very promising company. AWS has no work life balance. I'd choose Affirm
What does no wlb mean? 10 hour days, 15 hour days? Be specific—what do you mean by no wlb?
I don’t provide tc numbers I just want ppl to tell me which is more prestigious
AWS of course
