After Intel interview…

I started my first round interview on 11/30 and got to my final round with the hiring manager’s manager on 12/15. I sent a follow up email on 12/22 right before the holidays. I have not received any response after that. When I logged in to the website, the job req is closed and the status still shows “ under consideration”.

Does anyone know how long it might take for hearing back? Is it normal to wait that long? When should I follow up again? Will they notify you if you are not selected?
What will be the next steps?

Thank you for reading🙏🏻

  • In my experience, they will reach out to you if they have picked you. But if you're curious, you can always send another email.

      OP
Can I say I have another offer that I need to respond to?

    • Well, that can go both ways, so be prepared to walk. If they are really interested in you, they will respond quickly with an offer. If you are not their top choice, they might just reject you. I'd say just ask "When can I expect feedback?".

If it shows - under consideration. It means you should be the candidate chosen for the Job. Mon is US holiday.
so HR and team would be back to work today and you should expect something by the end of the week.

However no harm in writing another follow up email asking about the status.

But it could also mean they might wait for another candidate to respond, which means I could be the second choice, right?

Often there is a 1st 2nd 3rd choice chosen. In the event the first doesn't accept the offer an offer is sent to the 2nd etc. This is one reason for a potential slow response.

The process takes a very long time. Plus almost everyone in the company took the last 2 weeks of the year off.
