How is the LA Office? I’m trying to choose between SF and LA. I’d be commuting every week. I’d have to fly to SF (8-10hr ordeal each week), but LA is about 2 hr driving distance (about 4 hr ordeal each week).
why don’t you relocate?
There’s a few reasons. My wife is in school for another year, and my kids are settled in at school here. Also, housing costs in the bay are ridiculous. Lastly, our families are in Southern California and we like to visit with them often.
We don't allow remote work unless for highly specialized people that have been here for at least 2 years. What makes you think you can work remotely?
Didn't know there was an LA office. Where in LA?
Is there Software Engineering in the LA office? And where in LA is it?
there are engineers there, only for the experiences team.
Remote offices are worse in general than main office. It's not worth it unless you really live LA or don't plan to stay that long.
I plan to stay long.
Always work in HQ if you can
Mind sharing your offer?
It’s very new. They are starting to establish it in the new year, and some existing employees are relocating there soon. OP, it’ll be hard to get an answer how LA office is, because it’s not even established yet. On the good side, you get to shape it if you can join there!
Ok thanks! I’ll ask about it
Do you own a house in Santa Barbara or something?
Would you get a hotel room in LA and stay each week?
I’d stay at a hostel each week, it’s way cheaper.
