I have 20 years of experience in operations and I have been offered two different jobs, I'm currently a VP/L7 at a small startup that I don't see going much farther, so tempted to move on, plus my stock situation sucks even if it were to IPO. My current base pay is 235K, no bonus, no signing bonus, 180k RSUs. Airbnb 250K base, 25% bonus, 50k signing bonus, 450k RSUs Linkedin 245k base, 25% bonus, 60k signing bonus, 450k RSUs Both are recruiting me unsolicited, so I believe I have negotiation opportunities. I live in SF already, so leaning towards Airbnb, but the RSU's offer seems pretty terrible compared to other offers I'm seeing here. Is this low RSU offer because there is an expectation of Airbnb going public next year? Or is it because I'm in an operations role so it's not as lucrative? Would there be room to push for L7 with my years of experience? Any thoughts or suggestions?
It's tough to compare as it's Ops roles vs Engineering.
Airbnb just based on the product. More operational challenges as compared to LinkedIn. What exact role did you apply for at these company? I am trying to switch as well.
Sounds low for Director
What do you mean by operations? What team is that on Linkedkn? That seems very low for an engineering director at Linkedin
Managing teams of non technical staff, none engineering, non product, non design.
If both are non tech roles, yes, going to be half or less RSUs of what tech people get same level.
When u say operations is it SW ops or HW ops ?
Ops roles pay less at Airbnb for sure. Also bonus is program has not been renewed for next year yet. Your recruiter is lying to you if they are guaranteeing bonus.
Is the bonus structure going away for all teams or specific non-technical?
Facebook ops director roles pay ~400K TC. Seems inline with that.
‘Operations’ is a widely used vocabulary in the industry. It means a lot of roles. For some of those roles this is a solid oft.
450k RSUs yearly?
Over 4 years.
