It is hard to trust your recruiter about what to prep for an interview. I had a phone screen with Airbnb and my recruiter told me that it would be JavaScript/HTML/CSS question. At the end, the interviewer did not even know my language and thought I was a Java person. The question was a general coding question, not even a JS or front end related question.

Ok I’m not from Airbnb obviously but among frontend interviewers at Uber, there are 2 schools, some people ask js specific questions to assess the candidate’s mastery of the language, some ask algo questions (but in js). I personally think that algo questions are more useful, especially as phone screen. I also let candidates choose their language if they are more comfortable with something else than js. Recruiters only know so much of what goes on in a TPS / onsite interview.
