just got a rejection, despite an onsite interview that I felt went really well. They took a week and half to decide on the interview result. It would be good to get some feedback - any advise on approaching the recruiter for seeking a reason (just for feedback)? would be helpful for next attempts.. @Airbnb
They don't give any feedback
Failing an interview does mean you re not good enough , maybe you re not a right fit ? Keep interviewing mostly recruiter won't disclose the interview result or explain why you be not been selected.
Keep your head up partner
If you were referred by someone, ask them to talk to the recruiter for feedback. More often than not, recruiters share it with referrers.
It doesn’t hurt to ask for feedback but I agree you probably won’t get any. The time they took to get back to you probably doesn’t mean anything except that the interviewers had busy schedules for the on-site sync. The only effective advice I can give you is to Leetcode (and system design) more.
Guessing you aren't Asian ?
Actually black and Hispanic people are much more in vogue right now
I had rejection recently and the feedback was the strangest thing I've ever heard for a tech role. Recruiter said my interview feedback was positive but since they are planning to go ipo, they changed the criteria/bar after the on-site. Had I applied few months before It would have been easy to clear. Which means they are probably going on a hiring freeze before ipo.
Really... Did you finish the cross functional interview as well?
Yup, had 2 cross functional rounds. And yes, I still can't believe the feedback. Monday before the IPO news she says the feedback is great and after IPO they suddenly changed the hiring criteria. From talking to other friends at Airbnb, it looks like company over hired early this year and the want to appear leaner before the company goes IPO. Anyways if it's come to this, then I think their profits aren't that great.
Doesn't hurt to ask but unlikely you'll get what you need to succeed next time. Try some mock interviews with folks you trust
