Airbnb second phone interview

Is it normal to have two phone interviews before onsite at Airbnb? I had my first phone interview yesterday and heard from recruiter that I will be having another phone interview. I was asked LC medium in the first round and I solution worked for all test cases. Interviewer seemed to be happy as well. Not sure why they would ask for second phone interview. #airbnb

From the start, I was told it'd be either 2 phone interviews or 1 online test + 1 phone interview. I did the latter

was online test hard? timed?

Probably somewhere between medium/hard. The kind that feels like easy/medium if you've solved that kind of tree problem before. Something about DFS/BFS tree traversal. The kind that requires you to decide whether each node should have a reference to only its immediate parents or to all its ancestors (when creating your node class). If storing your nodes in Sets, be ready to add quick, correct hashcode/equals if using Java. Essentially, one of those long questions that require you to first build the entire tree before doing your thing. If I remember correctly. And you better pass all test cases. I hear that's a binary decision for Airbnb but I don't know. What leetcode difficulty is this? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I leave that as an exercise for the reader. And yes it was timed. 60 or 90mins. I don't remember. Oh by the way, you'll get some untimed warm up questions (up to 4) with about 1 week to solve them. There could be 0 or infinite relationship between warm up and actual questions. For me, the relationship was closer to zero 🙃

I think it is standard. I was asked a LC hard on first and then had a second one. My recruiter told me the feedback was positive for both but they had no picture on the headcount and will reach out when they do get one. When was your interview ? I did my interview in the second week of December ! :(

I went onsite around that time for L5 and passed at borderline L4/L5 level. Got down levelled. Still no "L4" headcount. Recently cancelled my application after getting some other top L5 offers.

it's normal. Airbnb is quite picky because they don't have many headcount but receiving many applications.
