Have an interview there. How is the culture, WLB and general atmosphere on this team? I am used to some mild chaos this year (lol) but I hear negative things about pressure at Amazon lately and want to know if the rumors are true or overhyped. Please give examples if you can (pm if needed). Edit: Looking for info about the BOSTON office only.
It’s a shitshow
Indeed it is. Run as far away as you can.
Pathetic would be an understatement. You have been warned. Join at your own risk. Life will be hell with no life after work. Meat grinder is a good analogy.
There isn't one Alexa team in Boston, so it would depend on which team. Personally, I didn't like it but that was probably more of an Amazon as a whole thing for me. If part of the reasoning is that you want to spend more time with your parents, you might want to consider one of the companies with better wlb - across the street from Alexa is MS and a few minutes walk from there is Google.
Considering those as well, but fewer jobs in Google for my profile. But, yeah. An important consideration.
What team? I've heard it's generally miserable and underpaid
Alexa .. play despacito.
I mean fwiw I recently interviewed there and could just wiff the hostile work environment through the phone in no way shape or form do I want to work for Amazon.
Make your own assessment. I was at fb before amazon and love amazon more. Boston office seems ok.
Thanks. What are some of the reasons why you love Amazon more?
Each team is different and I don't think you can find some signal at the geographical level to make a decision
Fair point. At the same time, certain orgs do tend to “resonate” out there in the industry from a culture perspective. I’m trying to understand what specifically gives Alexa a bad rep. So far no real details except “pressure” (which I am certainly familiar with at FB but am able to manage somewhat).

Why move from FB to Amazon, from what I heard Alexa teams in the bay area is chaos.
Elderly parents in Boston area and I want to be near them but still continue a career in tech. The jobs at FB Boston don’t match my profile.
Makes sense! Please mention the location in your post so that people from those offices can respond.
