Alexa or AWS?

I have two recruiters, one with AWS, one with Alexa, both asking me to do 90 minute OA but I can only pick one. Which is better? Holistically, like WLB, opportunity for growth, etc. Is the online assessment / interview process the same for each? TC - 110k #amazon #aws #alexa

What would you say are good teams to work for?

Amazon CaptRude Mar 11, 2020

Usually they'll let you do a split loop for the final round if you let the recruiters know

Aws is relatively better than Alexa

Why's that?

AWS has direction. In most Alexa teams, they don't know what are they building. Also, code base is a bit better in AWS. Depends on engineering problem vs business problems

Aws is more stable than Alexa. I think the general reputation about Alexa is that some of the teams and their management tend to be volatile with a good number of team members switching teams frequently. While the latter is not a concern and happens everywhere across Amazon, I would personally recommend AWS due to the relative stability.

Go to AWS for more oncalls and devops work

I think this depends on the team.

DB orgs are awesome place for ops. Almost no sev-2 load for DynamoDB, Aurora, Redshift, RDS šŸ˜œ

You should only have one recruiting POC, make sure they know about each other. They will turn it into a split loop and youā€™ll do one OA for both roles. If you go to onsite, theyā€™ll have interviews from both teams. Also, AWS would be my first pref, but it would honestly depend on the managers. Manager/employee relationships are important here.

Thanks all I'm just going to do OA for AWS and hope for the best!
