I’m i5, i am getting SGD7k with 9.5 years experience. Should I move? There are i6s just making excel files in DDP. I feel that I am underpaid if I compare the work I am doing and delivering compared to other teams. I was told by my supervisor that I am actually getting compensated handsomely, but I feel this isn’t true. What should I do? What are my responsibilities: The tech stack revolves mainly around Java, using maven build tools. I write the code and tests for whatever task is needed. I prepare the design. Skill level: Well, i can solve some medium leetcode questions. Lol. I am familiar with writing docker files, docker compose files. Never written my own Kubernetes deployment file, but I can understand one when I see it. Meh… #Salary #visa #Singapore Context: i5,i6 etc are job grades. I5 = senior software engineer DDP is the tech arm of Visa. Tc: 94000 SGD/annum
My friends who recently moved to SG got around 12-13K for the same position and level of experience as you. I'm sure you are very underpaid. I don't know anyone who is getting less than 10K for same YOE. And they are not working even in Banks or financial companies .
What’s the average expenses in Singapore like? Can you afford an apartment, eating out, going on vacations, saving for future, etc?
Yeah, the pay is comfortable if that’s what you’re asking. I have a house, but it’s still under mortgage. I am more concerned about fair compensation
Just want to know what lifestyle does 100k afford in Singapore. Singapore seems like a cool place, but what’s dating and social interactions like? Are Indians included at events or do you feel you get left out from things?
OP, how is morale at Visa? Is there anything exciting going on from tech or product perspective?
Morale is on the level of “annoyed”, because hiring has begun, and the new hires are paid more but the current staff are not. Lol so if you are from the outside, I encourage you to join for the pay hike
Move. Massively underpaid. Your supervisor is lying. Ofc he's going to say that to make you stay.
You're definitely underpaid. CS grads are making around 6k out of college in banks and fintechs in SG. You should be making SGD 10-12k at least. Move asap, a local bank can pay you more.
I know some folks having 1/2 of your yoe getting 2x of your tc
What's your yearly comp? What is DDP?
I’ve added into the post tc and what ddp is
Visa has terrible comp even in Bay Area. Your manager is lying or not aware of market conditions. Send him levels.fyi link and prepare to leave.
