Am I worthless for taking in only 80K?

I am planning to spend 2 grand a month on a apartment so that means one paycheck for rent 2nd for everything else. Stuck in a IT job and can't evolve out of it. I get so anxious reading some of these posts and feel like I missed the Dev boat in my past. :( $80K, Information Systems Engineer, 3 YOE, Fremont CA. Optical medial device company.

Blind is a giant TC circlejerk I wouldn’t worry about it. Depending on where you live, what you do, and YoE, 80k could be a lot, perfectly right, or low.

Hey! Please don't measure your worth by what you make. You're more than that. Grind leetcode and work hard, you'll be able to increase your pay in another company!

80K is great compared to most people. Also, you can totally switch to dev at any time. I was QA when I switched. Now I’m at 300K within 3 years of switching.

Are you a cpa? If not , do you know how much an average cpa makes in EY with around 1 year experience?

EY change101 Jun 1, 2019

Not a cpa. I am in IT audit. I have zero idea how much a cpa mmakes.but in my practice there are a lot of cpas making the same. I have 9 years of experience though 😭😭

Work smart , opportunities will pop up daily, with experience you will always move up. Btw. It will never be enough, even at 800k you will want more.

Not at all. You are immensely fortunate and wealthy in comparison to most of the world, and after only working 3 years. You’ve got plenty to be proud of and plenty of time.

Started at 60k. Now over 400k. Big jump didn’t happen until year 3-4. Give it time and grind. Learn in your spare time. It’s tough but worth it!

Teach yourself to code with python, docker, kubernetes and build automation/Jenkins/TravisCI and get into DevOps/SRE, then bring it to your company for practical experience and then make a leap to another company that needs that’s those skills. Quickest way to a large TC without scraping all your knowledge.

Why don’t you leetcode and apply.
