Let's say I start my 1st day as an SFA with group A. After 6 months, I want to transfer to Group B (more exciting project to me personally and/or don't like my direct supervisor). How do I go about this? 1. Do I do this in secret through coffee conversations with other hiring managers trying to feel them out? Is it considered in poor taste for the new manager to hint that he wants to poach me from another AMZN team? 2. Do I apply on an employee-only web site (I assume AMZN gives internal employees a headstart on apps before posting to the public career site)? 3. Who has the obligation to inform to my original boss that I'm trying to transfer to another team? And when/how does this conversation occur? 4. If my normal loop is 5 interviewers, what is the new team going to do with me? Do I just do a single formal interview with the hiring manager or do I have to repeat the whole loop as if I'm an outsider? 5. In light of #4, what's the typical timeline for an internal transfer to be made?

1. Yes do not tell your current manager. I suggest waiting until February because that is when ratings are locked in. 2. Not until the new manager gives you a verbal offer. Then talk to your current manager and then apply right after so no funny business happens. 3. You do. After the new manager gives a verbal offer. 4. Depends on the team. Some do full loops some just do informal chats about past projects. 5. Depends on the team. Sometimes they move fast in a week or two. Sometimes they take a few weeks.
Does #1 apply to Microsoft? That's an issue only of Manager is dishonest?
Not sure I’ve never worked there. I’m sure it doesn’t matter for 99% of teams but there have been stories on here about it messing people up.
