Hi, Few questions : Which are the BEST teams in Amazon to join as Network Development Engineer in terms of quality work, learning, growth. I mean Network deployment team, Architecture team, automation team, capacity team, etc???? Which Network teams to totally avoid joining? Example Network Operations Or??? What's the Top Salary range to expect for NDE Level 5? Seattle... Provided interview goes well Any other advice/WARNINGS for incoming NDE engineers? What's your overall review for NDE roles? I heard lot of horror stories about Amazon, but not sure if Network NDE teams also follow the same. I have 7 years of experience in bay area as Network Engineer. TC 🥜🥜
Let me know what you find out
Anyone??
Too many question marks. Unable to parse.

What do you want to know as an NDE? There’s not a lot of room for actual network engineering left at Amazon. Most things to invest in are around process automation and DevOps. If you do get on an engineering team within a Networking Org you will find yourself amongst a group of rooted peers who seem to control most engineering decisions based on their ability to yell and tenure. Not a lot of room for new ideas or ingenuity if you ask me mainly due to the aforementioned culture and OPs “too big to fail” mindset.
As far as TC for L5, I would say top of the range is somewhere in the low to mid 200k mark.
you may find 5-10% of your overall job to be somewhat close to Engineering, everything else is around KTLO, deployment, tooling, etc. A lot of that also depends on what kind of exposure you already had (not just YOE) and in what areas you want to grow and will you get that kind of exposure at Amazon. Most likely you will be able to get decent money (given that Amazon is desperate to find people) but that doesn't mean that your quality of work will also increase.
Whats KTOL?
fixed the typo - s/KTOL/KTLO - Keep the lights on
It really seems to depend in where you land. The scope and responsibilities vary a lot from team to team. There are people in deployment teams who seem to be just template monkeys, people in Ops who are taking tickets and have to deal with the support role, etc. Everybody will tell you from the experience based on the daily duties of the team they are in which again, is very different depending where you land. My advice, do not join.
