I have been put on pip and 2 -3 weeks into it I experienced a family crisis. This affected me personally and mentally. My pip is not extended and in addition, I took some time off to deal with the situation. I lost enough time and I am fairly certain that i will not be able to finish the project as i was given ridiculously less time to begin with. I am not asking for any advice(ya, look for another job etc), I am just here to say this is possible and it sucks ! Managers and hrs, please show some empathy and be reasonable. I know your job requirements dictate you to protect amazon's interests no matter what, but this is not fair.
That's harsh. Sorry it's happening to you, OP.
No one is ever supposed to finish a PIP. They’re designed for failure so you fail.
PIP is a documentation process before you get fired. It’s essentially designed to protect the company. Start looking for a job immediatelly.
Its not your fault, and don’t lose your confidence. I heard Amazon is doing down sizing which means lot of employees will be put on PIP. These PIPs are setup for failure so that they can fire you without giving severance package. Amazon sucks big time.
This is ultra shitty! Fuck you Bezos!
No, these PIPs are created to prevent wrongful termination suits. Severance package is unrelated to that and is company's good will in the states with at will employment.
Just resign. Life is too short to put up with such BS.
If it is a coding project, hire someone at RENTACODER to get it done discreetly while you take care of your personal matters.
File a sexual harassment case or racial discrimination case .. You will lose your job eventually , but you might get 3-4 months of severance which will help you in these tough times..
Please don't. It's unethical and can ruin the career if whoever you bring the case against. And it undermines real cases.
It is too risky. When you join any other company your employer will do background check and get to Amazon for feedback. Amazon hr will take the revenge. No one wants to hire a person who has filed a case against his employer.
Don't waste your time fighting it, focus on finding another job and loopholes to extend the process so you get more time. You probably should find a job that take a pay cut and focus on your family at the moment.
Take care of personal matters first. Let pip pop on it’s own. If you have to sign any papers just take it close to butt and sign with it and handover.
Life is neither foul nor fair. It just is.
