Amazon has increased salary band by 20% which will mostly help external hires. New pay bands for SDE/SDM in Seattle - L7 - 800k - L6 - 500K - L5 - 300k Amazon can go higher with competing offers. I have released an SDE III offer for 500K without any exceptions. Also an SDE 2 offer was released for 300k. I just wanted to post it here so that you can negotiate better as the salary range has increased and Amazon is desperate to hire. Looks like Andy Jassy is bringing some change in compensation as Jeff is no longer CEO. (Edit) Lot of questions that I am answering it here. How do I know about this? I am a Sr. Engineering Manager. Recruiters often send offers for approval which also contains the full range for the role. That's how I know about the ranges. I don't see this in India/Europe/Canada? This is only happening in places where Amazon is seeing hiring pressure and Amazon is paying lower than the Market. In India, Europe, Canada - Amazon already pays lot better than average. What about non-SDE roles? I have no idea about those roles. Hiring pressure is currently only on SDE roles, not for other roles. So it possible that this is only for SDE. What about non-Seattle areas? Most of the areas in US has the same salary as Seattle. NY and SF generally are 15% higher and hiring pressure is also impacted there. When these will impact existing employees? Typically new ranges take the next review cycle for grants which gets realized after one year. So you will get refreshers with new ranges in 2022 for the vesting of 2023/2024.
L5 too?
Yes, L5 too.
How do you know this?
Bluff. I didn’t sign any mandate to increase wages.
Cool more TC but they need to fix the culture
More like they’re increasing comp to justify it
For 700k I’ll compromise my morals, who has a rec for me?
Increase in floor too?
This is including sign on or just base/bonus/rsu.
Total comp which includes sign-on, base, rsu etc.
Assume this should drive up existing folks (especially yoy TT) during PCS next year. And any promos in meantime if the bottom of the next band jumped up 20%. This is great if they apply to all bands and not just new hire offer bands.
Is this really true about promotion? Or is this only to hire external candidates which they seem to be having a problem with?
Troll
Source?
What happens to existing employees?
free bananas not going anywhere
Lol
